Rouse Hill Regional Park | Part 1 of 3

Transcript

Hi everyone, it’s Nick here from Barley Monks Photography. I’m a Sydney based family photographer doing a series of videos on family photography locations that I thought might help some people out.

This location is Rouse Hill Regional Park. I bring the kids here quite a lot, and there’s a few different sections to it. This part is the first of 3 I’ll talk about in this park, and it is the bush section. It’s got a few nice bush walking tracks that run through here through some beautiful gum trees. It’s really great for family photos because you can get the kids running up the nice gravel pathway, and through the trees.

It’s kind of an all in one area because you’ve got the beautiful tall gum trees in this section with the grey trunks on them, and then you’ve got a greener section in a bit further in where they’ve got a creek, which gives a different feel to the photos.

I’ll talk to you a bit more about it then, but you’ve also got over on the hill a big open space with a wheat grass that grows there, and in the afternoon the sun sets behind it, and it just provides this beautiful golden lighting through it, giving you some fantastic shots of the kids in there that just feel really magic.

Then you’ve got the park area as well which is a real different kind of park actually to most of the parks you’ll find in the hills area because it’s got a great maze that the kids can run through, and you can get some great shots in the play equipment. You’ve also got these great little sculptures that are just outside it and they’re made of this rusty looking metal and it just provides a nice little element to the photos, and then you’ve got flying foxes and pretty much everything your kids are ever going to want.

This area here is the first of those locations… as I mentioned before. If it’s in the middle of the day, then you’re going to get your better shots in amongst here, because it’s a lot more shaded with the trees, and you’re not going to get that harsh lighting on the faces, and it’s going to give a nicer feel to the photos, so if you’re photos are in the middle of the day, this is probably the area to choose for that.

It’s not hard to get to at all. It just comes off Windsor rd pretty much on to Rouse Rd. Also it’s very dog friendly as well, and Rouse Hill Farm is attached to it as well, which you can go and check out… It’s got a lot of history of the area.

In my next video I’ll cover the open area which is great for your afternoon photos, so if you’ve booked in an afternoon session at Rouse Hill Regional Park. That will probably be the area you’ll be taken to, because that’s where the magic happens with the afternoon sunlight. Stick around.
